Dog Training….Unraveled

California Dogs meet Snow!

We decided to visit my parents in Wyoming for the holidays. Of course we brought the dogs, and the cats. You know, when people hear you are traveling with four dogs and three cats, they often look at you like you’ve just suggested that they join you in snorting a line of grape Kool Aid. My gang travels well, not a problem. The cats are happily taking it easy in the bedroom, kitty litter, food, and occasional cat nip and they are just as happy here as they are at home. The dogs however, are not overly thrilled with this snow business. Took Karma and Dyson a bit to figure out you actually could pee on it, and poor Jester and Teak are desperately searching for a blade of grass. They do enjoy playing ball in the snow though, I think they’d play in a hurricane and not really care.

Of course the big dogs don’t seem at all bothered by the snow and we just have to make sure to knock the ice balls off of Karma’s feet when they come in. Poor Jester though, even in his coat, roams around the yard on three legs, alternately pulling one up to warm it. But he persists in his scrounging efforts, because surely if he digs deep enough he’ll find his beloved mushrooms. Teak is ok as long as we are playing. Poor little thing does face plants in the snow to get her ball, and as long as she’s running is fine but as soon as you stop she starts shivering. I’m not sure my little guys are at all thrilled with this fluffy white stuff.

My mom’s pugs are used to it, but even they get cold and will abandon us to go inside and warm up!

Hope you all had a lovely holiday - we did!
