Modern Dog Blog

My name is Michelle and this is my life. Welcome to it. I live in sunny southern California with my three dogs (woops, four now!), two cats, a funny little caique, three parakeets, and an assortment of beta fish. I collect pets the way some people collect stamps. I am lucky enough to have the best husband/assitant pooper scooper ever to help me manage the menagerie. Poor Josh, completely petless before us, got tossed into the deep end of pet ownership.

I have been obsessed with dogs since I was a baby. Somewhere there is a picture of me at about a year old, in a diaper, crawling in the doghouse and about to get a drink out of the dog’s dish. Charming, but, this is me. I started training dogs when I was 13, and it quickly became my life. I have my own dogs, I work with other people’s dogs, dogs are my hobby, my passion and my pain. I love them, and some days I think I hate them.

This is about my life. The crazy things people do with and for their pets. Dog training tips and stories, things I’ve seen, done, and heard. What the dog trainer really thinks when they leave your house. The sometimes ugly reality of making a living training pet dogs. Being involved in everything from raising puppies, teaching about a zillion classes, my sad, sad attempts at competing with my dogs, and the exhausting work of rescuing dogs. Maybe you’ll learn something, maybe you won’t. Maybe you’ll get a laugh, maybe you’ll just hate me. Either way, I enjoy writing it, and sharing my crazy adventures. Sometimes I don’t even believe my life. It’s entertaining anyway. Dogs never cease to amuse and amaze me, it’s their owners, though, who really are often the ones truly needing help!
